Conclusion:

  • As expected, the pure switching mechanism of the valve caused no problems under deep cold conditions. However, the Hall electronics could no longer reliably detect the switching cycles under these conditions.
  • The valve 2/904-40...46-1004-1012-F 24VDC is suitable for use in deep cold environments, however the Hall sensor « FRITZ » is not suitable to reliably display end positions under deep cold environmental conditions. A continuous environmental temperature of -60°C for the Hall sensor can, however, be readily recommended.
  • It should always be noted:

The Hall sensor responds only to the proximity of the magnet on the magnetic head and thus detects only the "OPEN" position of the valve. Whether the valve is actually closed cannot be detected via the Hall sensor!
